Yesterday was the second day of Gamersbury. Traditionally during festivals the Saturday is the most hectic and awesome because your full focus is on the enjoyment
Not for me. Yesterday I spent a total of 4 hours in the car where the only game I really played was Angry Birds. I also discovered you can’t play Angry Birds Seasons without an internet connection. How dare I try to play a game at a time it can’t advertise stuff to me? Might delete it out of principle.
Anyway, I got to meet a new member of the family yesterday, new cousin who I shall teach the joy of gaming to when he is a bit older.
Now I’m at another cousin who only has a Wii so I might play that before the F1 starts.
Yesterday, Gamersbury officially kicked off. It started during the morning with song requests being tweeted and a host of them flooding in. I managed to keep up and post most of them.
I was really tempted to install Steam on my work PC but I don’t think my boss would have approved. No TF2 for me then!
So, work was music. Home was gaming and drinking. It started with, Battlefield Bad Company 2, sniping fools while I was blasting classic rock and drinking beer. Fun times were had
Then we moved onto Uncharted 2, joined by schkit and WorldOfHurt. Only managed 2 games due to.time constraints but we still managed to work.together and win a match.
I know people carried on with Gamersbury, like schkit with Burnout:Paradise and I saw djhobbs playing Alice Madness.
I wish everyone a good continuing Gamersbury even though I cannot take part today.
So, yesterday I came up with the idea of Gamersbury, bit of a play on Glastonbury. Glastonbury is one of the world’s leading festivals for music as well as a variety of other things. Glastonbury is happening this weekend. I decided that there are a lot of people who aren’t going to Glastonbury and a lot of those people are gamers. Gamers like you and me.
Why should we just have a plain weekend when Gamersbury can make it so much better!
Game – It’s what we’re good at and what we’ve done for a number of years. Play your favourite games or tackle a new one. Even go through the list of games you haven’t completed. It’s up to you!
Drink (if you’re of legal age) – What’s a festival without drinking? I don’t know because I’ve never experienced a festival without drink! Sure, you’re a good gamer while sober but are you a good gamer when a little inebriated? Time to find out.
Rave – Again, what’s a festival without music? Grab your radio, mp3 player or whatever and turn it up! Listen to Glastonbury if you wish or your favourite radio station. Listen to your music collection. It’s up to you!
Join – Join GamingRumours on PSN (sorry 360 and PC guys, I currently don’t have the facilities to game with you. Blame my lack of 360 and my PC dying on me earlier this week). I shall be hosting various multiplayer tourneys over the weekend.
Is This A One Off?
Hell No! Gamersbury will be an annual event but it won’t be confined to just our homes forever. I have some big ideas but will need help from the gaming community to turn Gamersbury into something fantastic!
So, it’s Glastonbury Festival this weekend, one of the biggest music festivals in the world known for great music, great atmosphere and mud. However, if like me, you are not going or have been left behind by friends who are going then I have an idea for you.
GamingRumours presents GamersBury!
Enjoy all the main acts of Glastonbury from the comfort of your own home. Turn up that radio to full volume, grab some alcohol unless you’re underage, then grab some coke (unless you’re awesome at sneaking alcohol*) turn on your games console or PC of choice, and settle in for the best gaming weekend of the year!
How you celebrate Gamersbury is totally up to you because it is the festival for Gamers by Gamers!
*GamingRumours does not support or condone underage drinking…
